Ultima residents and the surrounding community are invited to celebrate the town’s new, fully treated drinking water supply.

The celebration will be on Friday 12 April from 11.30 am at Ultima’s Lions Park in Dillon Street.

GWMWater Managing Director, Mark Williams, said the completion of the Ultima drinking water upgrade was a significant milestone for the community.

“The Ultima community have been at the forefront of advocating for an improvement to their water supply and we’re proud to have delivered that upgrade for future generations,” Mr Williams said.

“We invite residents, present and past, along with the surrounding community to join us to celebrate this milestone event. GWMWater staff will be available to talk with customers about their water supply and enjoy a light luncheon and a glass of water!” he said.

Supplying the town with drinking water piped from the Swan Hill Water Treatment Plant has meant residents no longer need to rely on their rainwater tanks or packaged water for drinking and food preparation.

Mr Williams said providing drinking water to Ultima formed part of GWMWater’s commitment to continue to meet the needs of the community.

Construction of the pipeline to provide Ultima with drinking water was completed in February 2023. The project included the installation of 29 kilometres of pipeline, two clear water storage tanks, two new pump stations and a new chlorinator.
