Opening allocations for the 2025/26 water year have been announced by the Storage Manager.

Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product entitlements will open at 0% allocation. Additionally, no allocation was possible to Glenelg River Compensation Flow, Recreation, Wetland and Commonwealth Environmental entitlements. System inflow for the 2024/25 water year was the second lowest on record, dating back to 1900, with a total of 29,310 ML (14.7% of the historic average).

Poor inflow over the previous 12 months and insufficient system reserve to secure system operating losses for the 2025/26 water year resulted in a small system shortfall. Until this shortfall can be erased by new water entering system, no allocation will be made available to entitlement holders. Entitlement holders will be able to utilise existing carryover held in the system to satisfy immediate demand.

Future increasing in allocation will be contingent on new water entering the system through inflow or realised evaporative / transfer losses on the system less than the assessment provision.
