The latest seasonal allocations for September 2023 have been announced by the Storage Manager.

Inflow to reservoirs during August was approximately 23% of average, with reservoirs increasing by around 8,480 ML over the past month. This has been sufficient for an 81% allocation to be made to Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product entitlements this month (2% increase). The resource improvement has also allowed for a 25% allocation to the Glenelg River Compensation Flow and Wetlands entitlements (2% increase), as well as a 20% allocation to the Recreation entitlement (1% increase). No allocation has been possible yet to Commonwealth Environmental entitlement.

A revised system reserve rule came into effect in 2022/23, with 27,550 megalitres now in reserve. The revised rule shares the available water between entitlements and the system reserve as soon as allocations commence. Details of the new reserve rule are available from the Storage Management Rules page.

The latest seasonal allocations for July 2023 have been announced by the Storage Manager. This is the first allocation announcement of the 2023-24 year.

Inflow to reservoirs during June was approximately 140% of average. Inflow received over recent months combined with the system reserve volume established in 2022-23 has enabled the highest ever opening allocations since completion of the Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline in 2010.

Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product entitlements have opened the year with a 61% allocation this month. The Glenelg River Compensation Flow received a 5% allocation, Recreation 3%, and Wetlands entitlement 4%. No allocation has been possible yet to Commonwealth Environmental entitlements. In addition, a total of 20,000 megalitres has been allocated to the system reserve for the next water year.
