The Storage Manager has released its third quarterly operating plan supplement for January to March 2020. This supplement accompanies the Annual Operating Plan and looks specifically at reservoir system operation over the upcoming 3-month period. The Annual Operating Plan and operating plan supplements are available here.
The latest seasonal allocation for January 2020 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
No measurable inflow was received to reservoirs for a second consecutive month in December. Persistent hot weather over recent weeks has resulted in very high evaporation losses from reservoirs. As a result, there has not been any increase in the volume of water available for allocation. Allocations remain unchanged this month, with Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product remaining at 36% allocation and Glenelg River Compensation Flow remaining at 1% allocation. No allocation has yet been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement.
The latest seasonal allocation for December 2019 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
No measurable inflow was received to reservoirs during November. Mild day time temperatures during much of November resulted in reservoir evaporation losses being slightly lower than forecast, with the savings able to be directed to increasing allocations. This has enabled Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product allocation to increase by 1% this month to have a 36% allocation. Glenelg River Compensation Flow remains at 1% allocation. No allocation has yet been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement.
A November update on Reservoir operations is also now available.
The latest seasonal allocation for November 2019 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
Reservoirs received 1,050 ML of inflow during October, which is around 4% of the October average. Despite very low inflows, mild weather conditions saw lower than forecast reservoir evaporation losses, with the savings able to be directed to increasing allocations. This has enabled Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product allocation to increase by 5% this month to have a 35% allocation and Glenelg River Compensation Flow to receive a 1% allocation. No allocation has yet been possible to Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement.
A November update on Reservoir operations is also now available.
The Storage Manager has realeased its second quarterly operating plan supplement for October to December 2019. The latest seasonal allocations for October 2019 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
Reservoirs received 7,470 ML of inflow during September, which is around 18% of the September average. Although below average, these inflows have enabled Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product allocation to increase by 6% this month to have a 30% allocation. No allocation has yet been possible to Glenelg River Compensation Flow, Recreation entitlement, Wetland entitlement or Commonwealth environmental entitlement.
A October update on Reservoir operations is also now available.
The latest seasonal allocations for September 2019 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
Around 18,480 ML of inflow was received to reservoirs during August; this has resulted in an allocation increase from 3% to 24% for high reliability entitlement holders. No other allocation announcements have been made.
A Rocklands Reservoir to Taylors Lake transfer of up to 10,000 ML commenced in August and will continue throughout September.
The Storage Manager has started a review of the Storage Management Rules for the for the Wimmera-Glenelg headworks system. The rules form the basis for how the system is operated day-to-day to support water security for the region. Read more or contribute to the review.
The latest seasonal allocations for August 2019 have been announced by the Storage Manager.
Around 16,630 ML of inflow was received to reservoirs during July; this has resulted in an allocation increase from 0% to 3% for high reliability entitlement holders. No other allocation announcements have been made.
A Rocklands Reservoir to Taylors Lake transfer of up to 10,000 ML commenced this month and will continue throughout August.
The latest seasonal allocations for July 2019 have been announced by the Storage Manager. This is the first allocation announcement of the 2019-20 year.
Around 8,000 ML of inflow was received to reservoirs during June; however, due to below average inflows over the past two years, further inflows are now required before any allocation can be made to entitlements. Additional inflows are necessary to secure the full headworks system operating water requirement for the 2019-20 year. Operating water meets system losses such as evaporation from reservoirs.
The first allocation announcement for 2019-20 season sees all entitlements receive a 0% allocation. Entitlement holders collectively have access to 116,600 ML of unused water allocation carried forward from 2018-19 year.
